Take a guided tour of the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana with our art experts. You will be able to admire some of the milestones of the world’s history of art. We are talking about The Portrait of a Musician by Leonardo da Vinci, one of the most fascinating and mysterious works by the great master, the School of Athens’ cartoon by Raphael, the only cartoon from Renaissance time that managed to reach us intact and the breathtaking Basket of Fruits by Caravaggio, one of the first works by the master that revolutionized art in 1600s.

In the same building the visitor can find another important institution established by Federico Borromeo: the Ambrosiana Library. Here are preserved a manuscript of Aeneid with drawings by Simone Martini and notes by Petrarca, an Iliad from the 4th century after Christ, the Perspectiva Pingendi by Piero della Francesca and the Divina Proportione by Luca Pacioli illustrated by Leonardo da Vinci.

You can also admire the amazing Atlantic Codex. The Pinacoteca Ambrosiana owns the largest collection in the world of drawings by Da Vinci. Admire the papers by the master in real life! If you fancy the idea we can build a Da Vinci themed itinerary in Milano.
