The theatre gives onto the homonymous square, facing the monumental Renaissance building Palazzo Marino, seat of the city council, and the Northern entrance to the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. In the centre of the square you can find the monument to Leonardo da Vinci. The elegant Neoclassic facade of the Teatro alla Scala was planned, as well as the rest of the building, by Piermarini and it hides the sumptuous interiors decorated with gold and velvet. Discover also the renovation made by the archi-star Mario Botta to update the opera house to the most advanced technologies.
