San Bernardino alle Ossa and the mysterious Milano

27 December 2018 by MilanoArte

Nobody can image a mysterious Milano but the city hides many secrets, among them San Bernardino alle Ossa, one of the most bizarre churches in town. Being located near an ancient hospital cemetery, now the University of Milano, this tiny bulding has been filled to the rooftop with bones. Skulls, femur and vertebrae form curious decorative motifs.

This place always fashinated people and it’s filled with legends. We cannot guarantee for all of them, but for sure the king of Portugal John the 5th was so impressed that he built a copy of our church in Evora, Portugal.

This is not the only mysterious place in Milano. Nearby San Bernardino alle Ossa is located a cript that was used as a graveyard for centuries, near the Saint Ambrose Basilica there is a column marked by the touch of Satan himself. Come and touch the holes carved by the horns of the devil!

Do you know that Milano was the seat of the very first Italian serial killer? The monster of Bagnera used to capture his victims and slaughter them in a narrow dark alley in the very downtown. This tiny road still exist, if you are so brave to walk this narrow alley, contact us and we will organize a tour of the Mysterious Milan.

Tours can be done in Italian, Chinese, English, French, German, Japanese, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian and many more languages on demand.
